Poster Planning (Poster 1)

Once we both knew what we wanted the film trailer to look like and understood the more technical details of constructing a film poster we could finally begin to plan what we wanted them to look like.

The plan for our first poster was relatively simple but we believed that it would be effective in communicating meaning (sometimes the best posters are the most simple ones).

We wanted the picture on our first poster was to look something like this:

The basic idea behind this poster was that Mya's file (representing the Trory Anwir Institution ofMental Health and the secrets that it holds) are hidden in darkness/the shadows (hence why the room will be in darkness) whilst the torch/the light being shined onto the file represents Mya's actions causing light to be shed on those secrets.

A part of the inspiration for our first film poster came from those used in Alien Covenant:

In these, the idea that we took was one of a black setting with light on the key thing in the shot (in the one present that thing is a Xenomorph's head creeping into the light). The idea created in those posters was that something that had been concealed in the shadows was rearing its 'head' upon discovery from humans. In a similar respect, our poster is designed to represent something concealed to the world being brought to light when someone stumbles across it.
